Fleet Service Technician

Job Description:

Barber Trucking is looking to add a skilled service technician to our fleet service team. As a member of our team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and performance of our diverse fleet of commercial vehicles. Candidates should possess an eye for detail and be diligent in their ability to complete tasks in a thorough but timely manner.

Duties:

• Perform routine maintenance and repair work on a variety of commercial vehicles, including trucks and trailers.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
• Conduct inspections to identify potential problems and recommend preventive measures.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and time spent on each job.
• Collaborate with other team members to achieve department goals and objectives.
• Participate in training and development programs to stay up-to-date with industry trends and technology.

Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent; Technical school or vocational training in diesel mechanics is a plus.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience as a mechanic, preferably with experience working on commercial vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Proficiency in using diagnostic tools and equipment. Possession of own tools preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to safety.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• CDL (Commercial Driver's License) or ASE certifications are a plus, but not required.
